Mission Statement: To assist the pastor in making the worship service a success; to greet each worshipper with a pleasant smile
and warm welcome thereby putting the congregation in the right frame of mind to receive the message; to ensure that order
is kept in and around the church at all times; and to do whatever possible to advance God's kingdom and this church.
History: The
Usher Board of First Baptist Church of Highland Park was organized in 1954 with the late Mrs. Cherry Williams as the first
elected president. Currently, the Ushers Ministry consists of three units: Senior Ushers (65 active members), Young Adult
Ushers (12 active members), and Junior Ushers (30 active members). The Young Adult and Junior Ushers serve under the direction,
guidance, and advisement of the Senior Ushers.
Since 1975, the Senior Ushers have been active members of the Interdenominational
Church Ushers Association of D.C. & Vicinity, Inc. (ICUA), the governing body for a unified method of ushering.

Usher during all worship services, funerals, and afternoon programs at FBCHP Fellowship within the Ushers Ministry as
well as with other organizations at FBCHP Support Ushers at other churches during Usher anniversaries Monthly meetings and continuing usher training
