Mission Statement:
The purpose
of this unique ministry is to minister the gospel through various forms of visual interpretation including sign language,
step, and mime. As led by the sovereign spirit of our Lord and Savior, Praise Power PRAISES with anointed POWER for an audience
of one, the Lord Jesus Christ. God releases his POWER to the harvest who witnesses his glory when we offer PRAISE to our Master
and King.
History:
The Praise
Power Ministry began in 2003 by the appointment of Pastor Davis and under the direction of Tamura Upchurch. Tamura
has ministered the word of Jesus Christ for 15 years and is currently pursuing a degree in Pastoral Counseling. She is the
ministry's Director and lead Choreographer and has been ministering through praise dance for over 20 years. She has also
facilitated several panels and workshops on the topics of Praise & Worship and Praise & Liturgical Dance including
with the Progressive National Baptist Convention.
Praise Power began as a dance ministry with 8 members and
is now an umbrella ministry for several visual forms of spiritual interpretation. The ministry now includes our 1st
Solo Minister - MISHA and (6) groups with over 70 active members including one of the only Couples Praise Dance ministry (United
Power) in the Washington Metropolitan area. Click here to see United Power video
Services and Activites:
This
ministry supports the Fine Arts Ministry of FBHP offering monthly ministering during worship services and produces an emotional
rendition of the Crucifixion each Easter. They minister at venues that include weddings, City/Community Days, outdoor
outreach, and area nursing homes. Because of the sincerity and passion of this ministry, Praise Power has mentored other
churches to establish Mime and Praise Dance ministries.
They minister as opportunity avails in cities throughout
the country and have even ministered in Bermuda. They also minister with several recording artists including the DuVal
High School Gospel Choir and renown gospel recording artist Pastor Hezekiah Walker.

Power's leadership team consists of the group's spiritual Directors and Choreographers and includes the excellent
