E.
Louise White, the principal of Highland Park Christian Academy, has served as administrator at the Academy since spring of
2008. Under her leadership, the Academy expanded to middle school beginning school year (SY) 2010. She previously was the
principal of Henry Draper, Alexander R. Shepherd and Adelaide Davis Elementary Schools as well as the charter high school
director of the New School for Enterprise and Development in the District of Columbia.
Being deeply involved as
a diaconate leader and teacher in Sunday School as well as other ministries at Nineteenth Street Baptist Church, Mrs. White
brings her strong religious values to this Christian academy. She fervently believes that God has always ordered her steps
and led her to this place.
Raised in Washington, DC, she completed her higher education at
the District of Columbia Teachers College and earned a Masters degree in Elementary Supervision and Administration at George
Washington University. Other graduate studies have included doctoral course work at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
Before retiring from the DC Public Schools, Mrs. White served in several capacities
in central administration including the Director of Certification and Accreditation; Director of Staff Development and other
executive positions. Following her retirement, she worked with a youth service agency in Ward 8, Covenant House Washington,
as the Director of Education and Training for more than ten years.
Besides teaching, her second
best love is the training of adults. In this area Mrs. White served many years as an educational policy fellow with the Institute
of Educational Leadership (IEL) working with school reform initiatives, and as a consultant for numerous federal government
agencies, urban school districts, large corporations and non-profit foundations.
She
and her two daughters are members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated; married more than fifty years, she and her
husband, Bernard, enjoy traveling with their family and grandchildren, watching old movies, and reading a good spy novel.
