Introduction of Ministry: The ministry seeks to teach, edify, encourage, rebuke and challenge engaged and married couples through small
group bible study. Our primary focus is to offer such classes to engaged couples and married couples.
Mission Statement: The Couples for Christ/Marriage Enrichment Ministry applies God's plan for marriage to build and strengthen relationships
of both married and engaged couples.
Key Focus Areas:
- For married couples, the ministry provides
Bible-based instruction during the Sunday Biblical Institute.
- For engaged couples, the ministry provides classes to prepare them to enter into marriage according to God's
Plan.
- The ministry hosts events to enhance the social skills
of the marriage relationship with a focus on weekly dating and communication.
History: Since 1996 First Baptist
Church of Highland Park has served engaged and married couples through the Couples for Christ/Marriage Enrichment Ministry.
Under Rev. James J. McCord's direction Deacon Calvin & Deaconess Marion Rodgers began small group bible studies to
serve and touch the lives of hundreds of couples. The first engagement couples small group study class at FBHP was offered
on Tuesday and Thursday nights. As a result, this ministry although small in number stands strong today and committed to the
spiritual growth and prosperity of each marriage that God gives us the opportunity to reach.
Scripture Reference: Psalm 127:1 KJV Except the Lord build the house, they labor in vain that build it:....
