Sunday, June 2 - FAITH FORWARD SUNDAY - All Disciples at Highland Park are urged not only to tithe (Give the first tenth to God), but to prayerfully consider a consistent gift beyond to be designated to FAITH FORWARD as we look to our future Worship Center & Gymnasium (which will also house our Family Life Center).

The Trustee Office is now accepting Requests For Proposals (RFP) for work to be done in the men’s and ladies’ rooms in the Sanctuary.  RFP forms may be picked up in the Church's Office.
The SHARE (Self Help and Resource Exchange).   Program is a food program for any person, family or group that desires to purchase a nutritious food package for about $20.00 a month.  The Share Program is NOT a subsidizes program.  There are no income restrictions.   Content of the food packages is varied each month.  The food is purchased from wholesalers. Each package contains at least enough for 4 meals for a family of4.  The food is picked up from the warehouse and transported to the church by volunteers and other volunteers package the food for purchasers to pick up at the church.  The monthly menu and order forms are available in the church office.  The menu can also be viewed on the Share Website http://www.sharedc.com/. To participate, simply fill out the order form and leave payment in the church office.  The form will have the pickup date on it.
THE SENIOR CENTER IS NOW HIRING DRIVERS to transport the senior citizens on Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays for about 4 hours a day. The Highland Park Christian Academy also needs a Field Trip Bus Driver.  Please contact Transportation Coordinator Mac Dent.

FREE VASCULAR SCREENING – MedStar Health, in collaboration with DARE TO C.A.R.E., is offering free vascular screening at several locations in the Washington area. This examination involves a non-invasive and painless ultrasound of the arteries in the neck and the aorta in the abdomen as well as an evaluation of the circulation in the legs. If you have the following risk factors, this screening will be beneficial: smoking, diabetes, high blood pressure and/or high cholesterol. Sunday, May 19 through Sunday, June 9 - TO ALL FIRST BAPTIST OF HIGHLAND PARK MEMBERS GRADUATING FROM HIGH SCHOOL OR COLLEGE who wish to be recognized at the Baccalaureate Service on June 23, please sign up at a table in the Breezeway starting TODAY after both the 7:30am & 11:15 am services. We are asking the graduates to fill out the forms and leave a photo if you want to be included in the power point presentation between services. Sunday, May 19 - MAY IS FOSTER CARE MONTH! Anyone interested in learning more about Foster Care, there will be a representative (Ms. Janie Hayes) in the fellowship hall after the 7:30am and 11:15am services on TODAY.
Monday, May 20 at 7:00 p.m. - WOMEN’S MINISTRY ASSEMBLY will be meeting on Monday, May 20 at 7:00pm . Ladies, if you enjoyed “The View” a few months back, then you don’t want to miss “COURAGEOUS CONVERSATIONS, an exciting panel discussion for women of ALL ages. This will be a rich exchange of issues women face today.  Bring a friend! 
May 20 thru August 23 - The summer months are rapidly approaching and students are searching for summer employment. The WMATA 2013 Summer College Intern Program (SCIP) is scheduled to run from May 20 thru August 23.  We will offer approximately 30 internship opportunities across the Authority. All internship opportunities are now posted and available through Friday, April 19 for online applications via the WMATA Careers website at www.WMATA.com/Careers. All parties who wish to be considered for an internship opportunity with WMATA you must apply online.
Saturday, May 25 - Donations of clothing, shoes, bibles and school notebooks and supplies are desperately needed in India.  Specific bibles needed are called Telugu. All clothing and shoe sizes for women, men and children will be accepted.  The above items will be collected on the following Saturdays:(FELLOWSHIP HALL), JUNE 8, JUNE 15 AND JUNE 29 (LOWER WYATT ANNEX), AND JULY 6 (FELLOWSHIP HALL).  The collection times will be 10:00am to 2:00pm.  For more information, contact Missionaries Lonnie Ebron, Tuwana Johnson, Francea Young or Mary Odom.
Saturday, May 25 - ATTENTION "ALL BELIEVERS - the Evangelism Ministry will be "Sharing their Faith and God's Grace" in our communities. This cloud of witnesses will gather under the breezeway at 9:30 am for corporate prayer and distribution of Bibles and Tracts. Come join us and let's take back our communities for Christ.

June 10 thru June 13 - 2013 Vacation Bible School which will be held June 10 - June 13.  More information will be forthcoming.
Saturday, June 15 - SIGN UP TODAY! Please come to the Fellowship Hall today and sign up for the 2013 PRAYER JOURNEY on June 15.  Don't delay, slots have already begun to fill up. There is a limited number of people who can go thru the Journey.  Please don't wait until the last minute and miss out on your opportunity to attend.  The Journey will be open to the community and co-workers.
Thursday, June 20 through Saturday, June 22 - AWANA Camp 2013 - Registration is underway on AWANA Friday nights as well as after the 7:30 a.m. and 11:15 a.m worship services.  The fee for each camper is $90 and the deadline to pay in full is June 9th.  This year's AWANA camp will be held from Thursday, June 20 through Saturday, June 22 at Refreshing Mountain Camp of Lancaster, PA.  The camp is for all youth who are currently in Kindergarten to 6 grade.  New and returning adult leaders can also sign up now.   Rev. Saturday, July 6 - THE MEN’S MINISTRY fishing trip. Cost $65 per person for your seat. Bait, tackle, rods, etc. are your responsibility. Rods rent for $5 per day. Boat leaves the dock at 6:30 am and returns at 3:30 pm. 25 seats are still available for this trip on a first come-first served basis. You may sign up after the 7:30 a.m. & 11:15 a.m. service. Payment is due at time of sign up. No seats will be reserved.

July 11 - 14 - FBCHP GIRL SCOUT’S 2013 END OF THE YEAR TRIP to Juliette Low’s Birthplace in Savannah, Georgia (the Founder of the Girl Scouts).  Friends and Family are Welcome to Join Us!!!  4 Days - 3 Nights - July 11 - 14, 2013. Davis III, will be celebrating his 40th Pastoral Anniversary as the Pastor of St. Paul Baptist Church and Retirement Gala at The Sheraton, in Eatontown, New Jersey. The cost is $100 and includes a hot breakfast at FBCHP, motor coach transportation, and ticket to banquet. $25 deposit is due at the time of reservation and the balance is due by June 16 (first come-first served - limited bus space). Wednesday, July 17 - Shopping Trip and Crab Feast:  Please join the April Birthday Ministry  for Shopping at Queenstown Premium Outlets & Crab Feast at Harris Crab House in Grasonville, Maryland. The cost is $75 due by June 28, 2013. The bus will depart from the Church parking lot at 10:30 AM and approximate return time 6:00 PM. Friday, August 9 at 7:00 p.m. - The Men's Ministry will be sponsoring a Family Fun Night to see the Washington Nationals host the Philadelphia Phillies at the National Baseball Park.  Tickets are $25 each.  For more information, contact Deacon Lavon Harper.

THE PSALMS SINGLES MINISTRY will be sending care packages to college students. Please see a PSALMS MINISTRY OFFICER in the Fellowship Hall after the morning services to submit names and addresses for the students or to donate items for the packages. Names and addresses may also be submitted to psalmsministry@fbhp.org
The Volunteer Nursery Ministry child care and mini-worship service program is available in Room 129 of the Education Building for children ages 2-5 during the 11:15 a.m. worship service.   Adult and teen volunteers are needed.
Cleaning for a Reason - If you know any woman currently undergoing chemotherapy, please pass the word to her that there is a cleaning service that provides FREE housecleaning - once per month for 4 months while she is in treatment. All she has to do is sign up and have her doctor fax a note confirming the treatment. Cleaning for a Reason will have a participating maid service in her zip code area arrange for the service. This organization serves the entire USA and currently has 547 partners to help these women.  It's our job to pass the word and let them know that there are people out there that care. THE APRIL BIRTHDAY MINISTRY would like to invite all members born in April to attend our meetings on the 4th Saturdays of the month at 12:00 noon in the Library.
We are in need of 4 volunteers to help set up for Sunday morning refreshments from 6:00 am – 7:00 am. You will only have to serve one Sunday a month. If you are interested, please call the Church Office/301-773-6655.
THE MISSIONARY MINISTRY is preparing to support the military troops who are deployed and their families who are members of FBCHP. We need an updated mailing address, including rank of troops, ages and sex of children and name of person & phone number submitting information.
